Trade Computer Book: Making DVDs

The Challenge

The mystique of creating DVDs—mastering the tools, understanding the formats, using non-linear editing tools, and so on—discouraged many storytellers who wanted to work in digital video from completing a DVD of their work. Lightspeed Publishing approach McGraw-Hill with a proposal to fill this gap in the existing market and was soon under contract to produce Making DVDs.

The Solution

Over a three-month span, Lightspeed Publishing interviewed numerous specialists who worked in DVD-related fields, created cases studies that highlighted the most effective techniques, tested and compared tools—both hardware and software—in use in the industry. Lightspeed also created the page masters for the book and developed a DVD master to accompany the title with bonus video content and project examples.
